Natural and eco friendly makeup on your wishlist and want to know what is the best? Today's review of Ere Perez reveals high quality eco friendly eyeshadow, mascara, and more. Don't miss out on these clean beauty makeup essentials!
When it comes to makeup, natural and organic options are certainly becoming a popular gateway for new green beauty enthusiasts. With big brands getting influencers, MUAs, and gurus excited to try out cleaner formulas, it's no wonder that more and more people are looking into ethical alternatives. And even as someone who doesn't use a ton of makeup, I really love playing with new eco friendly products.
That's why I just knew I had to try out Ere Perez - this green beauty brand always comes up in conversations about the best natural makeup (and skincare too!), and I wanted to see for myself how good and how eco their range really was.
Ere Perez in Review:
Ere Perez is a vegan * and cruelty free beauty brand that specializes in nontoxic and easy to use makeup. The Australian business with Mexican roots is all about keeping things clean and simple, and has been supplying natural products since 2004 when they launched. Not only that, but they have made strong commitments to ensure their collection remains as ethical as possible: no child labour, no animal testing, no potentially toxic ingredients like parabens or talc, and no GMOs.
"Ere Perez, who personally conceives and formulates every single product in the range, says: 'To me, being naturally beautiful encompasses everything about our lives. It’s being kind to ourselves and our fellow creatures; being thoughtful and considerate of other people; conscious of conserving the beauty of our planet and making the most our own natural beauty and recognising our inner strength; nourishing our bodies without using any harmful chemicals and certainly without testing on animals.'"
This greener beauty brand claims to load their formulas with beneficial plant oils, waxes, and extracts, and ensures that each one is gentle on the skin. Plus, they even offer refills for many of their makeup products (though it can be tricky to track these down unfortunately) and they opt for minimal plastic packaging so your routine can truly be better for the planet. Ere Perez is also known for having a huge selection available, with 41 "beauty enhancers" and over 120 shade variations.
From mascara and lipstick to highlighter and eyeshadow - Ere Perez offers a great collection of vegan makeup so you can pick up all your staples in one place. And today I'll be reviewing several and sharing my thoughts!

Ere Perez Natural Makeup:
When picking natural makeup from Ere Perez to try, I did find it hard to just choose a few - everything looked so good and I had heard such great things about everything! However, as I know I am not one to regularly put on a full face of products, I selected items I knew I would use on a more regular basis. I decided to test out an eyeshadow palette, mascara (which came in a gift set), lipstick, and lip gloss.
Last year I was loving wearing makeup just to have a play and make myself feel done up despite me not having anywhere to go. As I mentioned in my
Spring Favourites roundup, this year that's not the case anymore - I barely put it on. However, as the sunshine starts to become more regular and I feel myself waking from my long pseudo-hibernation, I wanted to find a fab natural eyeshadow for when I started to wear makeup again.
The Chamomile Eyeshadow Palette offers a slim and streamlined option that is ideal for having on the bathroom counter or stashed in your bag for on the go. The sleek white packaging is so crisp and clean that you really do feel like you're indulging in a luxury every time you open it, and the shadows themselves are just as stunning. There are four to choose from, and each looks just so perfect.
Lovely is a great choice for those who aren't so keen on darker shades but want a neutral everyday selection of colours. I love the subtle shimmer, the gentle formula, the blendable and buildable nature of the shadows, and the fact that it can be refilled (though like I mentioned before, I have yet to find a UK stockist that actually carries the refills - it seems this zero waste option is only available direct from Ere Perez currently). The natural eyeshadows don't cause much fallout when you apply, and they really do last a long time without smudging which is brilliant.
And with three matte and three lightly sparkly finishes, there is a great amount of versatility and room for creativity here. The shades aren't labelled in the palette which is a little annoying, but after searching for the refills I found out they are called (from L-R as far as I could tell) Maura, Lydia, Aurora, Ere, Emma, and Karla. Each is truly lovely so the name is fitting, and I like that I can have a super neutral look or a more smoky eye if I'm wanting something a bit more dramatic. No wonder the Chamomile Eyeshadow Palette is becoming a fast favourite - I can really see myself loving it for many years to come!
Ingredients: native rice (oryza sativa) starch, mica, calcium silicate, zinc stearate, caprylic/capric/ lauric triglyceride, triheptanoin, chamomile (matricaria recutita) oil, carnauba (copernicia cerifera) wax, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), potassium sorbate. May contain: +/- iron oxides, CI77891, CI77019.
Said to be the only natural waterproof mascara on the market, the Ere Perez Avocado formula is one that definitely intrigued me and caught my interest right away. It claims to provide 24-hour wear as well as full coverage, and I couldn't wait to see if the promises lived up to my expectations.
I will say that I had one letdown immediately when I properly looked at the ingredient list online - dimethicone is a prominent feature here, and as someone who avoids silicones for many reasons (the biggest being it is not biodegradable), I was disappointed to see this might be in the formulation. But that's just the thing - the ingredient lists online and on the box do not match! Talk about confusing... Everywhere I looked online lists deimethicone except the Ere Perez website and the cardboard packaging. I still am unsure if it's actually in the mascara or not. Was it reformulated recently? Is there different versions depending on country? Is it just a weird inconsistency?? I have no clue, and so until I can figure it out I won't be repurchasing despite the quality of this product.
But I wasn't going to just not use it as I hate being wasteful. The mascara itself applies super smoothly, leaving no clumps or goopy lashes, and the shade of black is lovely - not too dark, and very natural looking so it acts as an enhancement rather than a falsie aesthetic. It definitely gives a fuller look, and while it doesn't do much for length I love the definition it offers and how it makes my eyes pop a bit more. It's super easy to use, and I didn't have any issues with flaking which is always a plus.
This does last all day long once applied, though perhaps not quite a full 24-hours, and it doesn't smudge or budge even on a warm sweaty day where you're running around constantly. This is a great volumizing mascara, and the blend of organic avocado and mamey oils definitely helps nourish the hairs which is a fab perk. I appreciate that there is a more natural mascara available that is vegan and waterproof, and I know this will appeal to many makeup lovers. For me, I probably won't be picking it up again until I can get clarification on the formula as I don't like having non-biodegradable ingredients in my routine as it's not environmentally friendly, but I will enjoy the lovely lashes while this tube lasts!
Ingredients: Carnauba (copernicia cerifera) wax, palm kernel (elaeis guineensis) wax, soybean (gyicine soja) seed oil, dimethicone [OR IF YOU GO BY THE BOX THIS IS REPLACED BY diheptyl succinate and capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid copolymer], calcium stearate, mamey (pouteria sapota) oil, sweet almond (prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, sopropyl palmitate, avocado (persea gratissima) oil, palmitic acid, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), orange (citrus aurantium dulcis) oil, lemon (citrus medica limonum) oil, bergamot (citrus bergamia) oil, iron oxides
I rediscovered my love of a good gloss last year, and have been enjoying the moisturizing properties and gorgeous sheen ever since. When I saw Ere Perez creates a vegan lip 'honey' I jumped at the chance to try one. I couldn't wait to see how it compared to some of my
other favourites.
"Wearable sheens add intense syrupy gloss and subtle colour. Ultra-nourishing hydration that stays on. Wild mango boosts lips with vitamins & minerals. Jojoba seed oil softens delicate skin. Won’t dry out lips, just adds a juicy moisture layer. Never goopy, the honey texture is sticky enough to glide on smooth. Wear alone or over a favourite lipstick or stain/tint to add volume to your lips."
The Mango Lip Honey comes in four varieties - a clear version, a preppy pink, a wonderful wine, and a beautiful bronze. I picked the latter as I loved the copper tones and thought it would be really wearable for all occasions. Described as "everyone's burnt nude," I think it has a nice subtle sparkle to it as well as the freshly wet glow from the gloss effect, and I find this combination pairs so well. It adds just enough pigment to bring attention to the lips but without being too bright or over the top. And it glides on soooo smoothly!
Ere Perez have produced a gloss that isn't too sticky, adds a silky texture to the skin that is comfortable and feels lightly moisturizing, and offers a bit of glam every time you apply. It has a bit of an odd smell (a bit like plastic mixed with wax - it reminds me of the children's makeup I got as a kid), but otherwise I find it gentle and not too heavy on the lips. Definitely a great little lip gloss.
Ingredients: dimer dilinoleyl dimer, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, irvingia gabonensis (wild mango) kernel butter, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, tocopheryl acetate, hydrogenated coco-glycerides, aroma. May Contain +/- octyldodecanol, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, glyceryl behenate/eicosadioate, mica, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, tin oxide, diethylhexyl syringylidenemalonate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, calcium sodium borosilicate, iron oxides, CI 77891, CI 45410, CI 42090.
Looking for a vegan lipstick that is smooth, pigmented, nourishing, and long lasting? Ere Perez delivers with their Olive Oil Lipstick collection! This has to be one of my favourites that I tested from the natural makeup range, as it just ticks all the boxes.
"We love our party-themed lipsticks - there’s one for every occasion! This gorgeous naturally long-lasting lipstick is uniquely formulated with olive oil to help moisturise and hydrate your lips to the max, delivering pure, smooth, highly pigmented colour. See our full range of 14 shades to suit all complexions. Find your perfect party colour."
This cruelty free lipstick uses natural ingredients like castor seed and olive fruit oils, carnauba and candelilla wax, and cocoa seed butter to give a lush velvety texture that applies with ease, and it creates a soft and pliable product that feels so lovely on the lips. This is such a comfortable lipstick, and doesn't leave your skin feeling dried out or irritated at all - in fact, it offers a dose of moisture and keeps everything feeling fab for hours.
I chose the shade Runway as I was drawn to the dusky rose colour. This is the perfect balance between a more nude tone and a blush shade - it's elegant, romantic, and strong all in one. It does transfer a bit, so you may need to reapply after lunch or a coffee break if you're fussed about that, but I find the pigment remains all the same. And the metal finish on the outside of the tube is beautiful too. The Olive Oil Lipstick is sleek and refined through and through!
Ingredients: Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, coco-caprylate/caprate, pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, octyldodecanol, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, hydrogenated castor oil, pentaerythrityl tetrabehenate, mica, olea europea (olive) fruit oil, tocopheryl acetate. May contain +/- iron oxides, ci 77891, ci 15850, ci 77742, ci 77002, (only High Tea 0.01%) synthetic fluorphlogopite.
Overall I have mixed feelings about Ere Perez. I am really impressed by the quality from the ethical makeup range, and I really like the mix of neutral tones and brighter dramatic colours. I think this makes it easy for everyone to find a shade they love, plus allows for a lot of play so people can get creative and step out of their comfort zones from time to time. It's a decent variety, and all so wearable!
However, I find that their image as an all natural makeup brand is not as clear cut as I originally thought it would be. The potential use of silicones really threw me for a loop, and there were a lot of ingredients I have never really come across before. While all are technically naturally derived, it isn't as simple as you might first think (especially when compared to their skincare range). That being said, I am happy with the look, feel, and comfortable wear of every single product I tried and I think they are a fab pick for ethical makeup if you're looking to minimize your impact.
But what do you think?? Are you fan of Ere Perez? I would love to know which products are your top picks! I personally think the eyeshadow palette and lipstick were my favourites from what I tried so far. Which would you go for?? xx
